Program Updates
V3.1.19 New Features
Most of our new program features are direct requests from PHDwin V3 users.
New Scenario Report
This report helps users see how data is organized and applied across various scenarios, offering a clear view of how different qualifiers and models interact.
Scenario Qualifier Hierarchy Status Bar
The Scenario Qualifier Hierarchy in the Status Bar lets users view and navigate the entire qualifier hierarchy directly within a form.
Oil Equivalence
Unlike traditional "Barrel of Oil Equivalent" (BOE), which assumes oil is measured in barrels, oil equivalence avoids implying any specific unit of oil, making it more flexible.
Enhanced Grid Editor with ID Codes
Allows users to add up to three ID codes for easier case identification and linking with external data. These codes are retained when exporting grid edits to CSV or Excel, improving data organization and tracking.
Improved Non-GEL Unit
Non-GEL Unit for Offshore Production feature allows users to group cases and accumulate production volumes without solving for economics, unlike the standard Group Economic Limit (GEL) model. This is useful for offshore and onshore product handling agreements where economic calculations aren't required, simplifying volume aggregation and reporting.
V3 Forecast Connect is now Projection Edit Report
All V3 Connect sheets from V3.1.18 are compatible with V3.1.19 except V3 Forecast Connect which was replaced by the Projection Edit Report.
Cost Depletion Report
The cost depletion report is great for accounting and financial stakeholders who want to manage their wells taxable liabilities for the year.

We’re dedicated to delivering a reliable platform you can trust. This build addresses reported bugs and introduces stability enhancements to further improver the software’s performance.
Large Database Processing Time & Stability
When the right hardware (32gb RAM recommended) is used with PHDwin V3, large databases (70,000+ cases) are now faster to process and more stable to ensure an efficient workflow.
Direct Excel Exports Made Simple
Monthly Volume Export Report
One of the most requested features from V2 is back in V3.1.19. The new Monthly Volume Export Report makes it easy to pull historical and projected production data straight into Excel—no workarounds, no row limitations.
- Export monthly oil, gas, water, and NGL volumes

IT Dependencies & Downloads
The following items need to be installed manually if users install PHDwin from the .msi installer. The .msi installer cannot check for or automatically install these items.
Earlier versions of SQL (2016 or later) and the C++ redistributable (2015 or later) are fine. Only the .NET Framework 4.8.1 is actually new to build 3.1.13, so existing V3 users will only have to install that.

PHDWin Version 3.1.19
Comprehensive release notes for September 2025
New Features
Variance Major Phase (%):
This is a new measure of the quality of the projection’s fit; it shows the absolute percentage difference between the projection cumulative volume and the historical cumulative production for the overlap period. It can be found in sort, filter, graph titles, and a new “History & Projection Variance” Report
Virtual Handles for graphs
This highly requested feature allows users to interact with the handles on projections, even when the projection continues out of the graph. Handles out of graph focus will show as empty squares instead of filled out squares.
Monthly Volume Export Report
Another highly requested feature, this report will export out monthly volumes of both history and projected OGW directly to excel.
Auto add qualifier to primary by dragging to scenario
A pain point for many users that work with scenarios frequently was that it was too much work to click and drag qualifiers for each qualifier type. You can now drag and drop a qualifier directly on the scenario to add the qualifier as primary to all types at once.
Auto update of sort tokens
Previously, changes made and saved in cases GUI (as opposed to grid or global edit) were not updated until the case list was refreshed or a report was run. Relevant sort tokens should now automatically update on the case list as soon as the changes are saved.
Third party integrations
We are excited to introduce a new feature that will allow us to integrate third-party tools and software. More information will be available for this feature in the future.
General Improvements and Bug Fixes
Case memos
There was a GUI refresh issue that prevented deletion of case memos after initial save that has been fixed.
Case list
Duplicated cases were not automatically becoming the new active case on the case list; it should correctly display the duplicated cases’ data as the active case.
Eco Engine
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Corrected potential PW profile mismatches caused by group case and child case’s linked date interaction.
- The default time-out of 5 seconds was being exceed by some slower machines. It has been increased to 10 seconds to account for the slower setups.
- Improved exception handling of circular references and corner cases.
Global Editor
Related bug fix and improvement:
- You will now be able to choose a selected static variable or all for clear static variable.
- Fixed an issue where case specific energy factor was overwritten by default 1000 when applying a new $/MMBTU gas price model.
- Curve fit – ARPS should now apply to products with formula history.
- Fixed refresh issue with Y-axis auto scale not scaling correctly for certain setups.
- Apply fiscal model will now correctly skip over norm curve cases and process all other cases in the selection instead of ignoring them.
Graphs
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Right click to edit text on graph notes was fixed to save changes made
- Fixed issue where after Copying alternate projection qualifier, editing the projection before saving caused case save error.
- Applying a graph model that includes a cash formula product will no longer cause an exception.
- Color and line style changes for daily data were not being applied correctly.
- If a case is non-economic and “Truncate at ECL” is enabled, the segment will now truncate at the earlier of eco start and report date.
Grid Editor
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Fixed issue where changes were made to alternate qualifier when primary qualifier was blank.
- Static variables on grid editor will now only show the case level static variables of the currently applied fiscal model.
- Recompletion and incremental cases no longer automatically add “INCR” and “RCMP” to case name when edited.
- “insert row below” issues fixed for multiple grid editor pages.
Group Cases
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Waterflood projection unit now allow right click “select all children cases” as expected.
- Sumplot and norm curves no longer have their volumes excluded, as it is by default marked as “do not report this case”, and volume numbers are needed for sort and graph title token cum and EUR values.
GUI
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Fixed rare occurrence of status bar showing previous database if you were on a linked incremental case when you switched to an empty database
- Navigating the scenario settings window with the arrow key causing a crash has been fixed.
- Streams already used will now be greyed out on the add button for prices/expense form.
- Third party integration has been added with v3 connect in this build.
- Products configuration window should display full list of products as expected
Import
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Fixed issue where after Importing and applying gas price model from .mod file, global editor wouldn’t apply energy factor model
- Improved ARIES import experience with fixes to lookup table, investment, expense, ownership, and projection data.
- Fixed issue where dragging mapping tokens out of order was importing monthly production incorrectly
- Importing product test with decimal numbers will now bring in all columns as expected
Incremental
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Incremental cut offs should now properly be honored when linked back to base case
- When creating an incremental economic group case using right click, the forecast, monthly, daily, and test production should not be linked to the base case
- When creating an incremental of a standard case using right click, the forecast should not be linked to the base case
Merge
Related bug fix and improvement:
- Allocation subcategory exclusion should now be included in merge as expected
- Report exclusion selection should now be included in merge as expected
Project Manager
Now allows copy paste of a column from excel to manage offset for large amount of prospect cases.
Prospect Case Creator
Had an issue where the labeling of the success and dry holes in the case list was swapped when half or more of success cases were dry holes. It will now also follow the fiscal model of the success case.
Reports
Fixed issues with eco excel export when on multi-scenario run. Discrepancies between graphs and graph reports were also addressed.
Scenario Manager
You can now drag and drop a qualifier directly on the scenario to add the qualifier as primary to all types at once.
Changes to Reporting
New Report Features
Note: there was a GUI refresh issue that prevented deletion of case memos after initial save that has been fixed.
History & Projection Variance Report is new in V3.1.19
This report offers a monthly view of the historical volume, projected volume, historical cum, and variance where history and projection overlap for Oil and Gas. The variance has a checkbox to trigger whether to display the variance in volume or percentage. This works in line with the variance shown in sort token and graph titles.
Monthly Volume Export is new in V3.1.19
This report offers a monthly view of the historical and projected production for Oil, Gas, Water, and NGL. While the grid editor – monthly production export can be used to similar effect, there were limitations based on number of rows. This report will allow users to easily export out production to excel.
